About the Author

Dani Langevin is a Maui doula passionate about tiny humans, as well as normalizing the variety of birth and postpartum experiences. Originally from a small Colorado mountain town, she has found beauty in the mountains as well as the ocean. When not immersed in the wonderful world of babies, she can be found exploring the great outdoors with her dog, Louie, and finding inspiration through travel.

It is a tradition in Dani’s family to be told the story of the day you were born every year on your birthday. Having now heard that story dozens of times and in conjunction with pursuing a childhood dream of becoming an author, “On the Day You Were Born” was written.

Dani believes in the importance of fostering a connection with nature and books from the earliest stages of life. She hopes this book will provide time for family connection while instilling those values in its readers.

About the Illustrator

Nicki Barsamian grew up on Maui and attended Kamehameha Schools Maui Campus. After graduating she ventured to the east coast and attended Dartmouth College where she earned a degree in Anthropology and Art. She later obtained her Master of Arts in Education and has taught social studies and art at all levels. She cherishes time with her husband and three keiki, and continues creating art for kids of all ages to enjoy!
